Caffeine Craving of the Day

Because every caffeine junkie should share her addiction with her cyber-audience…

Friday July 28, 2011: Gimme Coffee Large Latte (because as dear Britney would say, “Gimme, gimme more!”)

Monday February 14, 2011: Harney & Sons Paris Tea (because what could be more romantic than a Valentine’s Day rendezvous with a cup of caffeine inspired by the City of Lights?)

Sunday February 13, 2011: Steven Smith Teamaker’s Red Hibiscus Tea (As a frequent visitor to my local cheese chop, yesterday I was granted the opportunity to engage in an in-store tea sampling. As I look to expand my caffeine-based horizons, I am thankful to have been introduced to Mr. Smith, the creator of Tazo tea, as well as a fanciful new brand that bears his name.)

Thursday February 9, 2011: Harney & Sons Hot Cinnamon Spice Tea (this is a brief ode to my favorite New York tea company and steady supply of caffeine after Starbucks closes at 9 PM)

Monday January 17, 2011: Starbucks trenta iced coffee with two Splenda and a splash of soy milk (yes, trenta is 31 oz of caffeinated bliss. cue celebration to the starbucks gods that be.)

Sunday December 12, 2010: Two boxes of Starbucks Tazo Calm Tea (and a little bit of British wisdom thrown in for finals good measure…)

Tuesday November 16, 2010: Starbucks grande vanilla apricot white tea (but served in my new morning wake up call of choice: the ROOSTER tea pot)

Monday November 8, 2010: Starbucks venti skinny gingerbread latte (and sadly, this is not my first shot of caffeine today. indeed, it is Monday morning of a long work week.)

Thursday November 4, 2010: Starbucks venti skinny cinnamon dolce latte with an extra shot of hazelnut (but seriously, I wish I were in Belgium right now because they have developed a new and wondrous creation– the Starbucks IV!)

Monday November 1, 2010: Starbucks grande skinny vanilla latte with touch of cinnamon in my new, highly sustainable British reusable cup (can you say “caffeinated and eco-friendly?”)

Thursday October 28, 2010: Grande Soy Pumpkin Spice Latte with a splash of holiday cheer (and yes, today is a glorious day because it marks the return of the seasonal RED CUPS!)

Monday October 25, 2010: Alice’s Tea Cup Trafalgar Square tea (complete with requisite Alice’s tea pot and otherwise adorableness; and yes, I may have slipped an espresso shot into the pot)

Sunday October 24th, 2010: Stumptown large whole milk latte (but really, ladies, I go there for the barista-candy…)

Thursday October 21st, 2010: Bigelow Pumpkin Spice tea (I may have consumed half of the box’s content between my 8:30 class and lunch time– the joys of illegally harboring a tea kettle in my dorm room.)

Wednesday October 20th, 2010: Grande TAZO Earl Grey tea latte (note the kettle: because New England feels like Antarctica right about now.)

Tuesday October 19th, 2010: Grande skinny pumpkin spice latte AND iced grande americano (some people double fist alcohol; I do it with caffeine.)

Thursday October 14th, 2010: Freshly ground Stumptown Coffee Roasters (yes, the magical coffee fairy sent me the most perfect little package in the whole wide world)

Tuesday October 12th, 2010: Tazo Calm Tea (don’t ask how many cups. it’s midterm season. but at least i am abiding by my british mantra: keep calm and caffeinated, and then carry on.)

Sunday October 10th, 2010: Ninth Street Espresso Double Shot Espresso (with a little extra something, courtesy of man who prefers men who prefer coffee)

Saturday October 9th, 2010: Cafe Grumpy Grande Cappuccino (please note the facial expression on the coffee cup)

Friday October 8th, 2010: Stumptown Coffee Roasters Medium Latte (I think I am having a love affair with my latte, and yes, cheating on Starbucks once again!)

Wednesday October 6th, 2010: Grande nonfat white chocolate mocha (the preference of choice for the Beloved Roommate, and after discovering the addition of little pieces of white chocolate in the top layer of foam, I understand why.)

Tuesday October 5th, 2010: Grande nonfat, touch of whip pumpkin spice latte (hello, fallidays!)

Friday September 3rd, 2010: Vente sugar free vanilla latte (did I mention I am packing up the contents of my life and shipping up to Wellesley this weekend?)

Ok, maybe multiple ventes.

Wednesday September 1st, 2010Grande toffee nut latte in an early holiday season green cup (cannot tell you how thrilled I am by the prospect of the Christmas red cup! i know, i am a very bad Jewess. )

Tuesday August 31st, 2010: Grande pumpkin spice latte (happy days are here again! free latte if you know which American president used said expression/song as his election campaign anthem…)

Monday August 30th, 2010: Two small BIRCH lattes (I know, I cheated on Starbucks again. I am a caffeine philanderer; I admit it!)

Sunday August 29th, 2010: Grande Tazo chai tea with a hint of honey and Splenda (the image featured below is courtesy of my favorite North Carolina newspaper: who knew garbage could be so damn attractive?)

Friday August 27th, 2010: Standard grande skinny vanilla latte with a splash of cinnamon (but the image below is that of fellow Subway rider’s drink de jour. to be specific, it is four year old Johnny’s Starbucks cup, which he clearly marked as his own. don’t ask me why at age four a young boy is downing 12 oz of expensive caffeine, though.)

Thursday August 26th, 2010: Grande skinny cinnamon dolce latte with an extra shot of espresso (and yes, I took on a new pseudonym today: Patti with an “i” to honor Patti Smith, who was playing on my iPod when I placed my order. Sadly, they misspelled my pseudonym as well: see below.)

Wednesday August 25th, 2010: Grande Tazo Chai Tea (in an adorable cow mug I somehow keep neglecting to return to the office)

Tuesday August 24th, 2010: Vente Tazo Earl Grey Tea with a splash of cinnamon (insert paradoxical summer cold here: **ha-chu!**)

Monday August 23rd, 2010: Grande Tazo Awake Tea Latte (bring on Monday morning!)

Sunday August 22nd, 2010: Grande whole milk latte (back to the basics.)

Friday August 20th, 2010: Vente vanilla rooibos tea (and just to prove I’m learned a little bit about sustainability, I brought my own mug!)

Thursday August 19th, 2010: Grande skinny caramel macchiato (and yes, this is another piping-hot beverage, despite the 90 degree temperatures outside. call me “special”.)

Wednesday August 18, 2010: Grande skinny hazelnut latte with a touch of cinnamon (and yes, I opted for the piping-hot version, as Starbucks has a tendency to drop its indoor temperature to that of the Arctic Islands.)

Tuesday August 17, 2010: While I fantasized about the seasonal Pumpkin Spice latte (featured below), I actually just ordered another iced vente unsweetened passion tea.

I have a thing for red cups.

Monday August 16, 2010: Iced grande black americano with four pumps sugar free vanilla syrup (my body is a sugar free wonderland!)

Post-Sabbath Indulgence, Saturday August 14th: Iced grande skinny cinnamon dolce latte

Friday August 13th (please refrain from all Friday the 13th references here): Iced grande unsweetened black tea with two packets of Splenda

Thursday August 12th: Iced vente unsweetened passion tea

Wednesday August 11th: Iced grande skinny vanilla latte

  1. This is clearly an addition and you’re just laying out all the goods. It’s sick.

  2. Although Americans aren’t the world’s biggest per-capita caffeine fiends, we’re not exactly teetotalers. Research by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the American Medical Association (AMA) has led these groups to consider 300 milligrams (about two cups of coffee) the upper limit of a moderate daily dose. But roughly 20 percent to 30 percent of Americans consume more than 600 milligrams — considered a high dose of the drug — on a typical day . If you consume more than four cups of coffee a day, you’re probably among that number.”
